About The Company

On behalf of Capital Markets Gateway (CMG), we are building an experienced product development team in Brno, Czech Republic.

Capital Markets Gateway is a financial technology (FinTech) firm that is modernizing the equity capital markets.

In 2017 CMG launched a platform that connects investors and underwriters, delivers integrated market data and analytics, offers full transparency, and workflow efficiencies. Thanks to data provided by CMG, clients make more timely and better-informed decisions.

This system is currently used by more than 100 buy side companies and 15 investment banks in the US.

In June 2020, CMG announced their Series B investment of $25 million from top financial firms such as Barclays, Citi, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, and Morgan Stanley (see here).

CMG has offices in New York, Chicago, Seattle, USA and since 2019 in Brno, Czechia.

The Role

You’ll join our amazing team in Brno and you’ll be immersed in CMG’s extraordinary culture. We will give you time and guidance to get onboarded into the role.

We are searching for an engineer focused on our DevOps, infrastructure, reliability, and tooling. While this is a DevOps position, you'll be part of a team focused on building and maintaining an enterprise level, cloud infrastructure for microservices, and cloud-native applications running on Kubernetes.

The person who joins our team will be encouraged and empowered to influence new solutions that will keep our technology running smoothly and with high availability for our customers.

Engineering Team

The CMG engineering team consists of domain experts who work collaboratively within a culture of cross-domain knowledge sharing.

We value engineers who are passionate about modern technologies and best practices. Our engineers are willing to challenge the status quo and are constantly seeking improvement and efficiency in our code-base and platform.

CMG engineers are empowered to explore solutions and bring recommendations to the table. We’re in a period of making impactful engineering decisions.

As part of our process, we believe in taking the time for research and prototyping - this is critical in making the right decisions.

Given the experience of our team, we have naturally adopted best practices from local development, through code review and into production rollouts.

Pull requests, test automation, code coverage tracking, containerization,one-click deployments, and our planning process are just some of the foundational components for those best practices.

The team consists of experienced engineers who left companies like Google, Microsoft, and Facebook to join our cause. You'll have a great opportunity to work and learn from those colleagues.

Tech Stack

Our engineering team has a lot of freedom in terms of the technologies and tools we use. We continuously adapt and enhance our tech stack as we grow our product.

Some frameworks, tools, and libraries we use are:

  • Docker, Kubernetes, Helm 
  • Terraform, GitOps, Flux
  • Microsoft Azure Cloud
  • Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, and New Relic
  • Managed Postgres and Elasticsearch
  • .Net Core and Ruby on Rails backend
  • React/Redux with TypeScript frontend
Responsibilities
  • Design and implement tools and technologies to provision and configure an enterprise software system hosted in Kubernetes, and to allow for continuous deployment
  • Provision, configure and maintain cloud resources using industry-standard tools and technologies
  • Conduct root cause analysis for production incidents
  • Identify trends and anomalies over the long-term lifecycle of the app
  • Actively monitor the application environment and respond to incidents
  • Contribute to team planning to solve engineering challenges
  • Be a dependable and highly skilled development resource for peers through education and review
  • Have a broad awareness of related projects and industry trends, and encourages innovative practices amongst peers
  • Advocate and model coding and collaboration practices, review team code, and provide team members with feedback and suggestions for process improvement
  • Collaborate with other team members to establish new best practices
  • Document and demonstrate solutions through written documentation, diagrams, and readable code
  • Oversee the environment to reliably run and maintain the application and recommend any potential improvements to technology or process
Skills & Requirements
  • Container Orchestration (i.eDocker Swarm, Kubernetes): 1+ years
  • Cloud infrastructureexperience:1+ years
  • Experience with alerting, metrics, and data-driven improvements: 1+ years
  • Supporting customer-facing web-delivered software: 1+ years
  • Commercial Software Engineering w/ OOP: 2+ years
  • Experience supporting enterprise/B2B software
  • Experience maintaining enterprise-level security practices
  • Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux
  • Bash, Python, Ruby, or other scripting experience
  • Excellent communication skills in English (Written, Verbal)
