The Role

Engineering Manager focuses on people, tech and processes. Oversees technical decisions, participates in a codebase if the time permits, sets up effective agile processes, manages the team, its output, performance and growth.

Responsibilities

People:

  • Manage, inspire, lead, mentor, and grow an engineering team and help them prioritize, build, and ship the most impactful features.
  • Keep the morale of the team members high, ensure their happiness and engagement on the project.
  • Identify the need to update the team structure or rotate the team members timely.

Engineering:

  • Provide leadership on ways of working, collaborative coding practices, and maintaining a manageable codebase over time.
  • Own the technical strategy, technical roadmap, documentation and technical backlog for a product area.
  • Advocate for technical initiatives through the OOO Way to improve efficiency, scalability, and maintainability of the codebase.
  • Work with the product and design to co-explore and co-define the best solutions for our products, provide technical feasibility, and suggest technical improvements to ensure your team has a suitable strategy to serve and achieve its business objectives.
  • Contribute to a code base, make architecture decisions, conduct code reviews and improve and ensure code quality though the OOO standards (Engineering Bible).
  • Support designing, building and configuring applications to meet business process and application requirements.

Process:

  • Implement and improve The OOO Way strategies and processes which help engineers work effectively together based on an in-depth knowledge of scrum and agile software development methodology.
  • Improve team performance by removing bottlenecks, minimizing waste, optimizing processes and reducing feedback loops.
  • Coordinate closely with our business development team to ensure timelines, budgets, and contracts with our startups are set appropriately and are held to.
  • Working closely with the key stakeholders and product peers to understand business requirements and help translate these into technical requirements for the engineering team.

Other:

  • Play a key role in helping us continue attracting, developing and retaining great engineering talent.
  • Coordinates team collaboration on the department initiatives and serves as a role-model, bringing department-level impact

Skills & Requirements

  • English on C1+ level
  • Proven team leadership skills - your management skills and technical depth allow you to develop and mentor others and build credibility with your team, while executing broader engineering strategies
  • Proven background in web and mobile development. You feel comfortable diving into the code and interacting with developers at all levels of seniority
  • Strong people management skills
  • Empathetic and team player
  • A commitment and drive for quality, technical excellence and results
