Equity capital markets still ran on outdated, manual underwriting and investment workflows. CMG set out to fix that, but its early MVP, built by an outsourced team, was unstable, underperforming, and insecure, nowhere near what regulated financial institutions require. To connect the buy-side and sell-side on one platform, CMG needed an enterprise-grade system that could handle sensitive data at scale, enforce compliance, and deliver a genuinely usable experience.

CMG was founded in 2015 by equity-capital-markets veterans Greg Ingram, Mike Wilcox, and Stamo Hadjiyski to eliminate the outdated, manual processes across underwriting and investment workflows. Its platform connects major banks, asset managers, and underwriters with real-time data, transparency, and collaboration in one place.

The vision was strong, but the outsourced MVP couldn’t meet the bar financial institutions demand. CMG brought OAK’S LAB on as its software development partner in 2017 to rebuild it to enterprise standards, and we’ve scaled with them ever since.

The mandate was to take CMG’s early MVP to enterprise grade: audit and refactor it for performance, reliability, and maintainability, harden security and compliance for a regulated financial environment, and improve the experience for both investment managers and underwriters.

It also meant building out CMG’s two core products and scaling engineering capacity as the company grew.

We assembled a dedicated team of senior engineers and designers to overhaul CMG’s platform: a comprehensive codebase audit and refactor to enterprise standards, security hardening with compliance controls for a regulated environment, and a modular, performant UI for investment managers and underwriters. We’ve worked hand in hand with CMG’s product leadership ever since, iterating and shipping features as the market evolves.
