Security teams were stuck producing assessment reports by hand in Word and PDF, slow, tedious, and hard to collaborate on. Dan DeCloss had a bootstrapped MVP that showed promise, but it lacked the enterprise-grade polish and scalability larger clients demanded, and PlexTrac had just one internal engineer. To win enterprise deals on sales-driven timelines, it needed a redesigned UX, a stronger backend, richer workflows, and far more development capacity.

PlexTrac is a cybersecurity reporting and workflow platform that helps red and blue teams collaborate to create, track, and resolve security assessments. Dan DeCloss, a former DoD penetration tester with more than 15 years in cybersecurity, founded the company to cut the tedious manual reporting that slows enterprise security teams down.
The product idea was proven, but the bootstrapped MVP couldn’t yet meet enterprise expectations, and the team didn’t have the capacity to get it there fast. PlexTrac partnered with OAK’S LAB to make it enterprise-ready and scale delivery.
The mandate had four fronts: redesign the UI/UX for enterprise adoption, upgrade the backend architecture for performance and reliability, build feature-rich workflows that let larger clients leave legacy systems behind, and scale development capacity to hit sales-driven deadlines before and after the Series A.
All of it had to hold up to enterprise scrutiny while moving at startup speed.

Dan came to Prague to meet his dedicated OAK’S LAB team and align on agile ceremonies and the OAK’S LAB WAY. As PlexTrac grew, we scaled the engagement, adding a second team after the Series A to ship two major product modules, backed by a full testing strategy (unit, E2E, and manual) and phased alpha/beta rollouts, and co-developed release and handover materials for the growing internal team in Boise.
